This is a parenting blog by Representative Sugii.
Until recently, my baby at home kept trying to roll over, but his right arm was in the way, so he couldn't quite manage it.
As parents, we found ourselves getting anxious, thinking, "Oh, just a little more!"
Amidst all that, thankfully, he finally mastered "rolling over," but...
I'd like to write about rolling over and sleepregression that occurred in our home.

■Overview
・What is sleep regression?
・Night crying can also occur with sleepregression.
■Content
・What is sleepregression?
→It is said to be common around 3-4 months of age.
The causes include:
① Establishment of sleep cycles
② Heightened senses
etc.
・Night crying can also occur with sleepregression.
Especially in our home, our baby used to sleep soundly through the night since birth,
but ever since he mastered "rolling over," he started crying at night, and then I'd find him having rolled over with his eyes wide open! 😭
I read in a baby book that the baby "is sleepy and wants to sleep, but his body unconsciously performs the new movements it has learned."
Since realizing this, my husband and I decided that whenever he learns a new movement, we'd look forward to a "new type of night crying."
Indeed, on days he learned a new movement, there would be some changes, such as his body moving during sleep or having difficulty falling asleep.
Being aware of this beforehand allowed us to enjoy it, knowing that the baby wasn't doing it intentionally.
It is generally said to last for about 1 to 1.5 months.
In our case, it lasted for about two months and is gradually starting to settle down these days.

That's all for now.
