Is your baby getting enough milk? (Spitting up, overflowing milk)

Hello everyone, this is a husband and wife parenting blog.

Newborns often hiccup and spit up, especially.

I remember in the beginning, my arms would get sore from holding the baby until the hiccups stopped.

I've compiled information I researched due to excessive worry and questions I asked at the one-month check-up.

※The content written here is just an example, so I would be happy if you could use it as a reference.

Overview

・Is the baby drinking enough milk or breast milk?

・What kind of spit-up is dangerous?

・What is regurgitation?

・Is the baby drinking enough milk or breast milk?

→The criterion for judging whether they are drinking enough is if their weight increases by [30g/day].

With formula, you know the quantity: "how many ml were prepared and how many ml were drunk" from the bottle.

On the other hand, with breastfeeding, it's harder to tell.

But even if you know the amount drunk, you don't know if it's enough for your child.

That's why at our house, we would weigh the baby once a week using a regular scale, subtracting our own weight from our weight while holding the baby, avoiding before and after nursing.

※It's recommended to put the K2 syrup day and weighing day on the calendar for the same day each week and set a reminder, so you don't forget.

・What kind of spit-up is dangerous?

→According to online research and doctors, "fountain-like spit-up" seems to warrant an immediate hospital visit.

It's a "gushing" type of spit-up, like a fountain. By the way, it hasn't happened in our house yet.

・What is regurgitation?

→In our case, it felt like drool and milk just dribbled out of the mouth.

It would sometimes dribble out if the baby cried intensely or got a little excited while playing.

So, enjoy your fun life with your baby.
