O-くいぞめ (first meal ceremony) is held around 100 days after a baby's birth.
The purpose of this ceremony is said to be to pray that the child will never be troubled by food throughout their life.
Recently, o-くいぞめ has become more casual, so I'm writing this for husbands as well, as it can't hurt to have this information.
※The methods described here are just examples, so I hope you'll use them as a reference.

・What is O-くいぞめ?
It is a custom from the Heian period to pray that one will never be troubled by food.
Recently, many families choose to do either Omiyamairi (shrine visit) or O-くいぞめ.
Whether you reserve a restaurant with private rooms, buy an O-くいぞめ set online, bake a sea bream, or buy taiyaki to share, let's celebrate your baby's growth freely and casually.
・How we celebrated our O-くいぞめ
In our case, we held the Omiyamairi at a local historic shrine and also had a dinner party, so we celebrated O-くいぞめ casually.
〇Sea bream → Taiyaki
〇Chikuzen-ni (I made it)
〇Namasu (my wife made it)
〇Sekihan (we cooked it at home)
My wife pretended to feed our child, and we savored our family time, thanking our child for living a healthy 100 days, more appreciative of our meal than usual.
Why not celebrate and pray with a good balance, everyone?
Cheers.
